Information on regularly scheduled events
  • Yahara River Chorus Annual Retreat

In late January or early February, the Yahara River Chorus has a weekend retreat, held at an area hotel with conference center facilities. We invite one or more coaches to work with us during the weekend to help us improve our vocal and visual skills. We work on the songs that we will be performing at Regional Competition and we enjoy each other's company. This always proves to be a productive and fun-filled weekend.

  • Region 22 Convention and Competition

In late April or early May, Region 22 holds its annual Convention and Competition. The exact weekend and location vary each year. Choruses and Quartets from Region 22 perform two songs each, and let the best choruses and quartets win! This is one of the highlights of the year for all choruses and quartets. The winning chorus and quartet advance to compete at the International level.

  • Region 22 Fall School

Each year Region 22 sponsors a Fall School in September. This is a two-day event (Friday evening-Saturday evening). An International Faculty member is usually featured, focusing on a particular topic, e.g., vocal production, visual skills. Members may sign up for PVIs (Personal Voice Instruction) with Regional faculty members. There is also a Novelty Quartet Contest. These schools are educational, fun, and a great way to connect with Sweet Adelines from other choruses throughout the Region.

  • Yahara River Chorus Fall Show

Each October, YRC presents a fall show. This is one of the highlights of the YRC year. The show is usually held at the performing arts center of a local high school, with an afternoon and evening show. There is a charge for the show. We have a basket raffle at the shows which is an additional source of revenue. This is a great chance to sing for our families and friends and members of surrounding communities.

  • Yahara River Chorus Fundraising activities

YRC members work at various community functions in order to raise funds for the chorus, such as Bratfest and WIAA Basketball, Swimming, and Softball games. We also sell Koeze Nuts in late fall (a wonderful holiday gift!) and Currents products.

  • International Convention and Competition

Every year in October, Sweet Adelines International holds its International Convention and Competition in a different city. The top quartets and choruses from the 35 SAI regions throughout the world perform, competing for the title of International Champion Quartet or Chorus. This is not a mandatory event for YRC members, but some choose to attend each year because it is a thoroughly enjoyable week where you are able to hear the best women's barbershop in the world. Details are available on the Sweet Adelines International website.
